GAYLE DISSAPOINTED WITH DEFEAT

GAYLE DISSAPOINTED WITH DEFEAT
LISTEN HERE: http://audioboo.fm/boos/1002189-marcus-gayle-post-eastleigh-4-3-staines

Staines Town manager Marcus Gayle was frustrated that his side came away with no points at the Silverlake.
Town slipped to a 4-3 defeat away to Eastleigh on Wednesday and Gayle believes they were unlucky not to at least draw.

“We’re disappointed tonight, we’ve scored three goals away from home, I think in any league of football you’re looking to win the game”
Tony Garrod opened the scoring for The Swans but they were soon pegged back by two quick goals from the hosts. The second half saw the visitors draw level through David Wheeler but conceded a goal two minutes after equalising and Gayle believes that was the key.

“The second goal for them was key. We had a good spell we started off pretty well, taking the first goal. We just lost our way with Lewis Ferrell coming off at that stage, kind of put us in an unbalanced stage”
It was the second time that Town have conceded four goals away from home in four days.

“If you concede four goals in that same game obviously you’re going to lose that, it’s a fine line that we’re living on, we’re not a million miles off but we’re disappointed” added Gayle.
“We know all the stories that surrounds Eastleigh, their budget, the pressure with going up and all that, we were trying to use that negative force for them as a positive for us to try and play on”

The defeat sees Staines in 16th place in the Blue Square Bet South, manager Gayle hopes his team can bounce back.

“But the boys have to learn sharp lessons very quickly and even at this level you get punished for things, so full credit to Eastleigh”
Gayle’s side now face AFC Hornchurch on non-league day this Saturday, and the former Watford forward is behind the scheme.

“Non-league days are great, gives it a good showcase for players of this level and the league itself. The football is getting better each year”

RICHIE: ‘IT WAS AN IMPORTANT THREE POINTS FOR US’

RICHIE: ‘IT WAS AN IMPORTANT THREE POINTS FOR US’
Hill (left) speaking to Staines manager Gayle after game.

Eastleigh manager Richie Hill was pleased with his side after they beat Staines Town 4-3 at the Silverlake stadium.

A strong performance saw the hosts score two goals in each half to win and despite the visitors putting up a strong fight, it was the Spitfires who hung on for the win, ending a losing run and manager Hill was delighted with the victory.

“Obviously the last two results we’ve had, to get a win tonight was of paramount importance”

The Spitfires went behind but two goals in two minutes had the home side ahead at half-time.
The Swans levelled the score line due to another mistake from the home side and manager Hill believes the error’s nearly cost his team.

“We’ve made some fundamental errors tonight and we got punished for them. It appears to be at the minute any error that we make we get punished but we shouldn’t be making them errors anyway”

Jai Reason’s second and a goal from man-of the-match Glen Southam wrapped up the victory that sees Eastleigh move up to seventh in the Blue Square Bet South table, and Hill believes that away form could be key for his side to move higher up in the league.

“Any successful team has to have a situation where they can pick up points away from home. We had a good hard working performance tonight, which I felt was missing at Farnborough” explains Hill.

“Tonight we’ve managed to score a few goals and that was good to see”

Next up for the South Coast side on Saturday is a tough trip to promotion rivals Chelmsford but the gaffer remains confident.

“Once we can cut the mistakes out who knows what can happen”

Eastleigh 4-3 Staines Town - Match Report

EASTLEIGH 4-3 STAINES TOWN

Eastleigh moved up to seventh after they beat Staines Town 4-3 in a seven goal thriller at the Silverlake stadium.

It was The Swans who took the lead in the 24th minute, Tony Garrod tapping in from Elliot Godfrey’s free-kick.

But the Spitfires responded in the 38th minute, Craig McAllisters deft flick found the on-rushing Moses Ademola who half-volleyed past Jack Turner in the Town goal.

The hosts were soon ahead, Ademola turning from scorer to provider two minutes later setting up Jai Reason who made it 2-1.

Into the second half and it was the visitors who levelled the scores on the 56th minute, midfielder David Wheeler capitalising on a poor pass from Eastleigh goalkeeper Jack Dovey.

But just two minutes later the home side were ahead, Glen Southam scoring a peach of a goal from 25 yards out after good play from the impressive Damien Scannell.

And it was the Spitfires who looked to have the game wrapped up on the 82nd minute.  Reason latching on to a ball over the top to score his second and Eastleigh’s fourth of the game.

Staines substitute Reece Hall set up a nervy finish, volleying in from a rebound to make the scores 4-3 before being sent off for a terrible challenge on Andy Forbes.

Eastleigh held on for an important three points and a much needed win.

Quotes from both managers will be up later.
