Staines Town manager Marcus Gayle was frustrated that his side came away with no points at the Silverlake.
Town slipped to a 4-3 defeat away to Eastleigh on Wednesday and Gayle believes they were unlucky not to at least draw.

“We’re disappointed tonight, we’ve scored three goals away from home, I think in any league of football you’re looking to win the game”
Tony Garrod opened the scoring for The Swans but they were soon pegged back by two quick goals from the hosts. The second half saw the visitors draw level through David Wheeler but conceded a goal two minutes after equalising and Gayle believes that was the key.

“The second goal for them was key. We had a good spell we started off pretty well, taking the first goal. We just lost our way with Lewis Ferrell coming off at that stage, kind of put us in an unbalanced stage”
It was the second time that Town have conceded four goals away from home in four days.

“If you concede four goals in that same game obviously you’re going to lose that, it’s a fine line that we’re living on, we’re not a million miles off but we’re disappointed” added Gayle.
“We know all the stories that surrounds Eastleigh, their budget, the pressure with going up and all that, we were trying to use that negative force for them as a positive for us to try and play on”

The defeat sees Staines in 16th place in the Blue Square Bet South, manager Gayle hopes his team can bounce back.

“But the boys have to learn sharp lessons very quickly and even at this level you get punished for things, so full credit to Eastleigh”
Gayle’s side now face AFC Hornchurch on non-league day this Saturday, and the former Watford forward is behind the scheme.

“Non-league days are great, gives it a good showcase for players of this level and the league itself. The football is getting better each year”
